Let's Serve Up Hope this Season

Updated: Dec 5

Every gift matters. Let's serve up hope this holiday season.

Hurricane Helene’s devastating impact on our mountain communities and the ongoing response efforts of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC and many others offer a reminder of the essential things that unite us—family, community, and the power of standing together in the face of adversity. At Second Harvest, we see this spirit of compassion and unity in action every single day. We see it in every carefully prepared meal, every hand extended to help, and every moment of celebration, like the joy of graduates completing our culinary training program. Most of all, we experience it through your generosity and commitment to caring for our neighbors in need.

Our mission at Second Harvest goes beyond distributing food—it’s about restoring dignity, rekindling hope, and strengthening the bonds of community. When your support our work, whether through food donations, volunteering, financial contributions, or advocacy, you transform lives. You’re nourishing children so they can succeed academically. You’re enabling seniors to live their golden years with dignity. You’re giving families facing the uncertainties of job loss, illness, or unexpected hardships the support they need to get back on their feet. And in moments of crisis, like natural disasters, your compassion ensures that nutritious meals reach those who need them most.

This holiday season, Second Harvest Food Bank warmly invites you to “Serve up Hope” by taking a meaningful step to support our mission, ensuring that everyone has access to nourishing food and opportunities to thrive.

Here are five ways you can join us in making a difference this season:

  1. Make a Personal Gift Every gift matters. With a $10 donation, Second Harvest can provide up to 60 nutritious meals.

  2. Honor Loved Ones with a Special Greeting Honor those who matter most to you by giving the gift of nourishment to those who need it most.

3.   Organize a Virtual Food Drive Engage your friends, family, coworkers, or community groups in a Virtual Food Drive. Together, you can raise funds online to help provide essential foods for our neighbors. Visit SecondHarvestNWNC.org to get started.

4.   Join the Fitzgerald Society

Take your support to the next level by becoming part of this dedicated group of

donors. As a member of the Fitzgerald Society, you’ll be among those whose annual

gifts sustain our mission year-round, providing a consistent source of hope and support

for individuals and families across our community.

5.  Make a Planned Gift or Donate Stock or a Vehicle

These giving options offer a lasting legacy, allowing you to make a profound impact on our mission while benefiting from unique tax advantages. By making a planned gift, donating appreciated stock, or contributing a vehicle, you help ensure Second Harvest’s ability to serve the community for years to come.

Every act of care brings us closer to a world where everyone has the nourishment needed as a foundation for living a healthy, productive life. Every action contributes to building a stronger, more resilient community. Together, we can turn compassion into real change, one meal, one person, and one family at a time.

Let’s Serve Up Hope—today and always. Thank you for being an essential part of our mission and for sharing your kindness and generosity.
