Second Harvest Food Bank and WXII 12 News are partnering once again this year for our special holiday food drives!
As heating bills mount and budgets tighten, the winter months see an increase in need at local food pantries across Northwest North Carolina. Second Harvest and WXII are working together to collect healthy, nutritious food donations to distribute to the Second Harvest 18 county partner network to help meet this demand.
“The weather is changing, temperatures are dropping, and families are having to choose between heating their homes and having food to eat,” says Joe Kilar, Second Harvest’s Food Drive Manager. “We also have many holidays to celebrate between Thanksgiving and New Year’s... and everyone deserves to celebrate.”
We sure hope we see YOU out at one of our food drives this holiday season. Whether you are a family with a tradition of giving to the WXII Holiday Drives every year or you are finding yourself in a position to get involved for the first time this year, every donation helps to feed our neighbors in need.
